Light-Driven Multimodal Nanocarriers for Drug Delivery Applications

Funded by Max Planck Society, Partnership Project with Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, 06/2023 - 06/2028
The new Max Planck Partner Group has been established between Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (MPIP) and Biofunctional Nanomaterials Design Laboratory (BIND Lab) at Biomedical Engineering Institute of Bogazici University, Turkey.
The aim of the Max Planck Partner Groups is to strengthen the cooperation between Max Planck Institutes and their partners worldwide and Dr. Iyisan will receive funding for 5 years to strengthen research collaborations with the group of Prof. Katharina Landfester at MPIP through exchanging students, joint workshops, publications and new grant applications.
The duration of Max Planck Partnership is for 5 years and the project will focus on development of light-driven multimodal nanocarriers for drug delivery applications. To develop multimodal systems, we will work on the following topics:
(1) Multimodal nanocarriers based on biopolymeric nanocapsules loaded with photothermal agents will be developed.
(2) Encapsulation of drugs and in-vitro drug release will be investigated.
(3) Surface functionalization of multimodal nanocarriers with targeting and/or stealth materials will be performed.
