Our latest research, conducted in collaboration with Prof. Katharina Landfester and her group at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, has been published in the European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics! The study, “Effect of Protein Corona on Drug Release Behavior of PLGA Nanoparticles”, sheds light on an often-overlooked aspect of nanomedicine: the protein corona. Have a look if you are interested in!

We investigated the protein corona formed by the interaction of human plasma and fetal bovine serum with our in-house-produced PLGA nanoparticles. The study examined its composition and influence on anticancer drug release. Proteomic analysis highlighted a protein corona dominated by albumin, which indicates potential for extended circulation in the bloodstream. Additionally, the protein corona had a moderate effect on drug release profiles, offering crucial insights for enhancing the design of PLGA nanoparticles in drug delivery systems.
